Effect of Tissue Adhesives on Seroma Incidence After Abdominoplasty: A Systematic Review and Meta-Analysis
Conclusions There is a paucity of high-quality evidence to support the delivery of TAs to prevent seroma formation after abdominoplasty. Well-designed RCTs are needed to assess with confidence the overall effects of TAs in abdominoplasty. Level of Evidence 2 Therapeutic (Source: Aesthetic Surgery Journal)

Total Abdominal Wall Reconstruction with Component Separation, Reinforcement, and Vertical Abdominoplasty in Patients with Complex Ventral Hernias
Abstract Large complex ventral hernias act as tissue expanders for skin and subcutaneous fat. The purpose of this study is to evaluate outcomes of total abdominal wall reconstruction with component separation, posterior reinforcement, and vertical abdominoplasty in patients with large complex ventral hernias. Between 2010 and 2014, 58 patients underwent total abdominal wall reconstruction with component separation, intra-abdominal reinforcement, and vertical abdominoplasty. Between 2010 and 2012, patients underwent the conventional technique of component separation, while a perforator-preserving technique was performed during 2013 and 2014. Reinforcement material used was either synthetic mesh in clean cases or biologic mesh if contamination was present. All of the excessive skin...

Autologous Breast Augmentation Using Abdominal Dermis Fat Strip Grafts: A Preliminary Report
Conclusion Dermis fat strips obtained from an abdominoplasty operation can be used to obtain slight augmentation during mastopexy in patients requesting both of these operations in the same session. Validation of this new technique requires more experience with additional patients. Level of Evidence V This journal requires that authors assign a level of evidence to each article. The Divine Proportion “Ace of Spades” Umbilicoplasty: A New Method of Navel Positioning and Plasty in Abdominoplasty
Conclusions: A Fibonacci caliper might aid in the proper positioning of the umbilicus on the abdominal wall avoiding an undesirable high- or low-riding navel. The “ace of spades” umbilicoplasty restores a natural-looking depressed navel with an oval shape and superior hooding. (Source: Annals of Plastic Surgery)

Effects of deviation from focal plane on lesion geometry for ablative fractional photothermolysis
ConclusionsA relatively minor DFP has a marked impact on the thermal injury profile, including lesion depth and diameter, of the laser‐exposed tissue. Such marked changes of the thermal injury profile might affect the wound healing, safety, and efficacy of ablative fractional resurfacing procedures. Clinicians should carefully maintain the focal plane during ablative fractional treatment for reproducible results. The presented data are device specific and the clinical impact of such alteration of thermal injury profile warrants further investigation. Lasers Surg. Med. © 2016 Wiley Periodicals, Inc. Cosmetic Body Lift
Conclusions: This investigation is the largest series to date to evaluate the cosmetic body lift for the non–massive weight loss population. Consistent with reported complication rates of lipoabdominoplasty in the literature, the cosmetic body lift is a safe and effective operation for optimal waist contouring. Post-bariatric abdominoplasty: our experience.
Authors: Grignaffini E, Grieco MP, Bertozzi N, Gandolfi M, Palli D, Cinieri FG, Gardani M, Raposio E Abstract The fast increase in obesity has been followed by the growth in the demand for plastic surgery in formerly obese patients. The weight loss is accompanied by new dysfunctions and disorders of the outline of the body that affects the quality of life of the patient. Abdominoplasty is a cosmetic surgery procedure that aims to remove the excess of skin and the redundant fat. The aim of this paper was to analyze our experience in this field and to test how functional abdominoplasty improved quality of life in the operated patients. In our Unit from January 2012 to December 2014, 25 patients (18 women and 7 men, age: 24 - 79 years, mean: 51 years) underwent abdominoplastic surgery...
